voor de stoomtreinen.. overgroeide sporen ets ets
je vindt er alles terug

Our train passes through the impressive Nestos River Gorge, with its near vertical sides as we continue aboard the Black Sea Express from Xanthi to Platania. The rails are perched on a ledge high above the Nestos River, with many tunnels and bridges taking our Greek diesel locomotive and two Bulgarian carriages through this seemingly impossible terrain. This is a stretch of track that has etched itself on my memory as one of the world’s great engineering feats.
